Rose Bloom Cocktail

Rose Bloom Valentines Day Cocktail

Since a fancy Valentine's night out is a thing of the past for me and Brian, I wanted to come up with a festive Valentine's Day cocktail that we can sip on after the baby goes to bed. And this delicious little concoction will be just right.

Rose Bloom Valentines Day Cocktail

This cocktail has some real Valentine's flair because it includes a rose flavored simple syrup made with rose water and fresh lemon juice. It also combines citrusy grapefruit with spicy citrus from the cardamom. And it all blends together beautifully.

I really love this blush hummingbird glassware! I found it on Amazon for under $20! I can't wait to really put them to use come Spring and Summer! I garnished my cocktail with rose petals; if you plan to do the same, make sure you use roses that are free from dyes and pesticides. Otherwise, a grapefruit wedge will also look great!

I can't wait for a quiet, work-free night while sipping on these with Brian. I hope you all have a very lovely Valentine's Day! Cheers!

Rose Bloom Cocktail   (recipe makes 2 cocktails).  Monin

Rose Water Simple Syrup-

1 cup water
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 Tbsp lemon juice
1 tsp rose water (found on International aisle of most grocery stores)

4 cardamom pods (I get mine from Whole Foods)
4 oz rose water simple syrup
3 oz gin (I prefer Hendrick's for this drink because it's actually infused with rose!)
2 tsp fresh lemon juice
6 oz grapefruit juice (roughly juice of 1 grapefruit)
Club soda

1. To make rose water simple syrup, combine water and sugar in small saucepan over medium heat until sugar dissolves. Add lemon juice, rose water and stir. Remove from heat and allow to cool to room temperature. (Syrup you're not immediately using can be stored in refrigerator in airtight container up to 1 month).

2. Add cardamom pods and simple syrup to cocktail shaker and muddle cardamom pods with syrup. Add ice, gin, lemon juice, grapefruit juice and bitters and shake for at least 20 seconds. Strain into chilled glasses and top with club soda.
